Like many out there I can’t help scanning ‘Discogs’ for my ‘Wishlist’ of records. I don’t share the list as it’s ever changing and to be honest more of a mental list.
This week I bought for the ‘list’ and a record not on it as such, an opportunist purchase. Not from Discogs, I got into habit a while ago of scanning Vinted, yes there’s a quality risk, no better or worse a risk than eBay with the boys that if not happy until you say it’s ok the money is not released so there is a safety net. It’s pretty obvious I’m not the only one as prices have risen on there over the past year or so. It’s was an untapped gem for a short time, alas no more.
From the list Balance and Symmetry from Biffy Clyro. I thought I already had it, back to that in a second but no there was a gap in the Biff! Well there are a few but not from Only Revolutions and onwards not including live albums or the B Sides albums. Mon the Biff, love that band, still one of the best live acts around and looking forward to seeing them again this year in festival mode.
The other was Fallen Empires by Snow Patrol. I religiously bought everything they released on CD that time, but do need to go back and get the records. Another band I’ve been a big fan of since the release of ‘Run’ in 2003. Like Simon Neil from Biffy Clyro, Gary Lightbody, both have a way of coupling a wide range of emotions to a simple order of notes, the highest quality of emotive songwriting.
Anyway two records in mint condition, a bend in the corner of one sleeve but I can live with that as not really noticeable. I recommend an occasional scan of the app from time to time.
