Fink, Beauty in Your Wake

If you want to find music that keeps on giving, then any album by Fink is for you. My introduction was the album ‘Hard Believer’ back in 2014 and I still think that every time I go back to it I find something a little more, a sound, a nuance, a something. The new album ‘Beauty in Your Wake‘ is no different this is the 8th Studio Album so if you are not that familiar with this artist, firstly have you had your head in the sand, secondly, you are in for an experience. This experience comes in Cornish blue vinyl, it is a stunning colour.

I’ve seen a good few reviews for this release and all positive, no surprise their either. The opening track ‘What would you call yourself’ sits perfectly at the beginning, exactly what existing fans want to hear. Like a fusion of ‘Looking to Closely’ and ‘Not Everything Was Better in the Past’ or you could substitute those two songs for any others in the back catalogue. Starts off soft building to that loved style of Fink emotive crescendo! ‘Be Forever Like a Curse’ follows suit but takes you somewhere else. ‘It’s Like You Ain’t Mine No More’ is a trip somewhere else, melancholy lyrics out of place with the optimistic noodling but still so right.

Simply put it’s ten beautifully sculpted tracks.

The album is a journey, finishing beautifully with ‘When I Turn This Corner’ a downplayed slowing finish like walking away satisfied, but in reality reaching for one of Finks many other offerings as your trapped needing more.
