So I have lots of emails coming in saying ‘Coke Bottle Vinyl’ as a special version of a record being released, I have heard it occasionally but not paid attention that much as there are so many variations, red, blue, splatter, gold, limited Silver, Orange and Coke Bottle? And im quite partial to good old black.
Now in my occasional 2+2=5 thinking I’d first noticed the other day, Billie Eilish ‘Hit Me Hard And Soft’ Spotify coke bottle clear vinyl LP PRESALE. Seeing her talking against all the variations of vinyl artists use and her very green credentials. I thought “they must be recycling coke bottles to make records” a nice idea? Yes my imagination took me there in a not giving it much thought sort of way. 2+2 does not make 5,6,7 or any number other than 4, I was way off 4.
So it refers to the original bottle colour of coke bottles, that’s it, nothing clever just a “looks like” observation. Nothing more clever than that, and coke bottle clear, with that old-school blue / green tinge.
Im sure all vinyl collectors knew this, I will have a word with myself!
