The Beauty and the Chaos indeed
Leopards don’t change their spots and thats a good thing. There is a reason I bought ‘Unbelievable’ and ‘I Believe’ on CD single and Shubert Dip on Vinyl back in 1991. The CDs are away in a box somewhere in the loft replaced by streaming but the Vinyl is still played. along with Stigma and Cha Cha Cha.
I saw the return of EMF via tour listings, BOOKED THAT! This was accompanied by the news of new music. Excitement! Trepidation? Apprehension? unwarranted!
EMF – The Beauty and the Chaos – Yellow Vinyl ordered
Hello People is the right lead song and first single released, it’s the song that should lead, the first few notes instantly recognisable as that band from 1991. Unmistakably EMF in the verse both musically and vocally with an understated anthem like chorus. It’s new and it’s nostalgic simultaneously, washing over you as if the word ‘YES’ could just give you a hug and a kick at the same time.
From ‘Reach for the Lasers’ to ‘Stardust’ it’s track after track of songs you want to see LIVE, different speeds but no less begging to bounce to. Slowing down for Lookout Mountain then back up for Red Flags softly finishing with Do it Again. Its just works!
I’ve got a lot of time for the artwork here as well, the slightly sarcastic cheeky winking face tagged over a simple image of daisies, a flower that represents innocence and purity and new beginnings.
The mark of a great album for me is not skipping a track, i’m a Vinyl junkie so don’t tend to much but I do stream, and this is an album that just needs to be played in its entirety every time. I am sat working this morning and its on its 3rd repeat, it’s quintessentially EMF, cant wait for the live set on February 15th.
