So I was headed to New York for a few days, time to see what’s on, I had three evenings there, two of which were already taken so it was all about the 12th of January, there are a good number of venues big and small covering a lot of genres but the first online hit was Tool at the Garden! Madison Square Garden with a visual show like that! NO BRAINER! Never been to this venue so got there half an hour early and what an iconic space to see music. The support act Elder were a tight unit who set the scene well.
Tool was as good as expect, Loud, Sonically abusive and visually stunning.
Maynard James Keenan starts with stating NO mobiles, STAY CONNECTED and it worked, there were a few shots taken here and there, I grabbed a couple of cheeky ones for this post but even those I kept the phone down discreetly as I appreciated not having a phone blocking my view and couldn’t be a hippocrit! “I’ll tell you when it the last song you can get your phones out then!”
The stage setup around the drummer, guitarists out front with Keenan swapping left to right on raised platforms between songs. The images speak for themselves and after I posted the next day on socials a musician friend simply posted ….
“You motherfucker! Tool in NYC, not jealous at all, honestly!” – Says it all to be honest!
