The twenty something year old next to me said to me “that’s one of the best live acts I’ve ever seen” and we’d been chatting for half an hour about a serious list of bands we’d seen. And he’s not wrong!
Formed right back in south-west London in 1985 but to me and most outside of London, most well known for the album Connected released in October 1992. I bought that album on release, I think everyone did it was new, it was fresh, it just radiated cool! The closest we ever got to it was in the clubs and the tracks fitted well, floor fillers.
They still are! The delivery hasn’t missed a beat, basslines that punch you in the chest, Rob Birch’s vocal mastery that just mesmerises, backing vocal tones that reach your very core and choruses that make you want to dance like nobody’s watching.
Not my first time seeing the Stereo MCs live, previous times they’ve been headliners so a longer set than the 30 minute support slot but it just wetted my appetite again for next time.
