Fink in-store

Fin Greenall, Fink, performing songs from Beauty in Your Wake at the Vinilo Record Store in-store

A treat in store it certainly was!

The Fink In-store finally came around, I say it that way as when you’re a kid, and possibly an adult and looking forward to something it seems a lot further away and an eternity to arrive. The Fink in-store at Vinilo is Southampton was exactly like that.

Got there a little early and joined the queue outside, not to far from the front. A line of all ages all either, like myself carrying the record or CD in a bag having already having it delivered like myself,or waiting to collect it prior to the performance. I got in, found a good view, we let some who would struggle to see stand in front, but we were in-store and in position.

Fin Greenall appeared with a smile, you don’t always see that side through the music or the curated album shots but his face was beaming. He genuinly looked pleased to be there and that engaged the audience in an instant, not that he needed it, everyone there was sharing and hiding a collective excitement. He took his seat and gave a quick relaxed overview of how this was going to go, a few from the new album followed by some oldies, sounded good to us all.

Just Fin Greenall on a stool with a semi-acoustic painted up with the Hard Believer album art, a PA and an RE-20 Space Echo (which i’m already investigating and may already be in the shopping basket). I know its the point of the music but that simple setup got across all the beautiful emotiveness of the music, the reverb and the echos I have loved for over a decade.

They say ‘never meet your heroes’ but the word ‘amiable’ doesn’t get close to the warmth and interest he showed to all that attended, both from the stage and face to face during the signing. Thank You!
