Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes, a missed opportunity ‘FOR ME’!

Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes.Southampton O2 in 2011

This is not a review, I didn’t make it! (insert angry face emoji) Not putting it in the Live section as its from back in 2011.

I was introduced to Frank Carter and the Rattlesnakes late 2021 and became an instant fan, a rushing mix of sonics and sound that doesn’t take a breath, ever! I just ordered vinyl straight away, Modern Ruin and Sticky, the album the tour at that time was about to promote. From Lullaby and Wild Flowers to Our Town these were songs that I new would stay on my playlist and albums that regularly get played midway through an evening.

As soon as tickets became available, and locally which was a bonus they were booked! 15th November 2021 I first got to see Frank Carter and the Rattlesnakes and to say I was not dissappointed was an understatement! Lynks and Casyette as support acts were the perfect build up to the show. The stage setup was raw and simple, the focus on Frank and what a giving artist. Handing out roses to people in the crowd at one point and even inviting a member of the audience to come up and sing one of his songs, he wanted to be there and truly wanted to share the experience with the audience. Simply put, a must see live.

Roll onto 2024 and the new album ‘Dark Rainbow’ is coming out on the 26th January, pre-order in place and the tour is announced. It is not so local this time, the closest being the Bristol O2 on a school night but thats easy and obviously we are in. Was a busy week for gis all in with five in the diary and this was a true highlight middle of the week.

To make it even better the support was announced. The Mysterines, I have not seen but read good things and they sounded great on streaming, and Hot Wax, a band I saw last year at The Joiners and still talk about, to those who will entertain my musical conversations. Lining up to be a great night.

Responsibilities, sometimes things are just out of your control and have to take priority! Needless to say the military planning to get three people to a time and place to get to Bristol to park, eat, queue early and enjoy the night was scuppered!

For those who went, i’m sure you had a fantastic night! I am jealous but I am not bitter.Frank and Rattlesnakes, until next time.
